“In Japanese culture, the cherry tree (Sakura 桜)
was associated with the samurai,
whose life of bondage was so ephemeral
as the brevity of the flower that comes off the tree.”
Chest of drawers with top and inlaid front, in a continuous design, almost all made of Freijó wood, which appears massively in the structure and in front of the drawers.
The marquetry in this piece represents the cherry blossom, a tree originally from Asia, forming a continuous design, which runs through two sides of the furniture – the front and the top.
Due to the complexity of the designs, three distinct marquetry techniques were required.
The front bulging of the piece makes it lighter and more modern, and highlights the design of the wood shafts.
Precise dovetail drawer fittings translate into durability and quality.
